Overview
The International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) is an organization of “health care professionals and scientists working toward a world where no person’s life is limited by epilepsy.” The organization advances knowledge, research, education, training, and improves services and care for epilepsy around the world. It has over 120 chapters worldwide.
Description
The ILAE website features many resources to help clinicians and patients learn about and advance research into epilepsy. Users can navigate through the tabs to find care guidelines, research studies, journals, patient care information, chapters in different regions, and much more. While the website does feature mostly English, some documents have been translated into other languages.
Guidelines
In the Guidelines tab, users can find many different reports and guidelines from different years with detailed information about epilepsy. Users can download definition and classification documents, clinical practice guidelines with supplemental toolkits, and much more. Though some of these documents might be too dense for patients to understand, there are many resources and some are even translated into other languages.
Patient Care
In the Patient Care section, users can find information and resources that are helpful for patients including documents, brochures, articles, and much more. There are also links to external resources that go into detail about diagnosis, treatment, first aid, medication, and other pertinent topics.
Journals and Education
In the Journals tab, users can find, download, and read the latest research journals and publications endorsed by the ILAE. These journals contain peer-reviewed articles and the latest in epilepsy research. In the Education tab, users can learn more about the efforts that the ILAE has to inform and educate professionals and users can even peruse and use the online education resources provided.
