Overview

The American Epilepsy Society is an organization that “seeks to promote interdisciplinary communications, scientific investigation, and exchange of clinical information about epilepsy.” The group features expert doctors, scientists, and other professionals who specialize in epilepsy and other seizure disorders affecting adults and children.

 

Description

The American Epilepsy Society’s website featured many resources that can help doctors and patients learn about and research epilepsy. In addition to a vast amount of written material and resources about the condition, there are also sections about the latest research, meetings, career opportunities, workshops, and more.

 

Research

AES helps support and educate epilepsy professionals by being committed to funding clinical trials and studies that advance developments in all aspects of epilepsy from diagnosis to treatment to quality of life. The organization provides grants and fellowships for young researchers and the next generation of scientists and doctors. On the Research tab, users can find more information about research projects, awards, fellowships, and more.

 

Clinical Resources

The AES website features a wide variety of resources that can be helpful for doctors and patients alike. The site is updated with the latest guidelines for clinician care, diagnosis, and therapy. There are sections with detailed answers to frequently asked questions, drugs that are available in the US, surgeries, treatments, and more.

 

Professional Education

AES helps educate and develop doctors and other healthcare professionals through a variety of activities available in the Professional Education tab. Users can watch webinars from trusted experts, sign up for professional workshops, read handouts about the basics of epilepsy, and much more.
